What next? Running after the job is done.

I, along with many of our customers, have completed my spring goal by completing the BMO Half Marathon in a personal best. Now what? I failed to plan anything for my post half marathon training schedule. I found myself running easy, aimless kilometres these last couple of weeks and to be honest it was fun. I had nothing on the fridge to tick off each day. I was out the door before I even knew which direction I was going to head let alone how far or fast I would run. It has been nice but I need to decide soon what the next target is going to be. I have a few soft goals out there such as running with The North Face Team at The Death Race in August and running a new route across the North Shore mountains. My problem is that I have really enjoyed running fast (all relative for those real speedsters out there) and I am afraid that too much mountain time will take away some of that pace. I may have a viable solution in multi-sport. If I train for the UBC Point Grey Duathlon (no I can’t swim) the bike training will help develop the extra leg strength I’ll need for the mountains in August and yet I’ll have to keep the foot speed up for the back to back 5k runs in the duathlon. There we go problem solved! Time to create the new Fridge chart for June/July. Remember to make sure you are having fun out there.

BMO Marathon and Half necessities.

With the BIG event this weekend we have to bring your attention to some great accessories that may help you hit that PB.

Race belts (pictured below) are a great way to carry a little something while having your race number attached to it instead of poking holes in your favourite race shirt.Race Belts

Compression socks and sleeves are a great way to recover after an event but they can also minimize muscle oscillation while racing.

If you like to run with tunes then Yurbuds are a must. They lock into your ears and therefore won’t fall out while running. They also allow just enough ambient sound in so you’ll hear the crowd cheering your name.

Good luck to everyone running on Sunday and it isn’t too late to enter the Compressport contest by guessing Dave from Distance Runwear’s time for the Half.

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! Tuff Kid XC Challenge…don’t miss out.

We are getting close to our first event…very exciting.

Registrations are rolling in so don’t delay as some age groups look like they are going fast.

Here is the link to our April 24 Newsletter with some updated info and the colouring contest details.

We received some great press as well from The Vancouver Courier click here to see it.

See you Sunday.

Terry Fox Tribute Run 2013

I was very happy to be a part of the Terry Fox Tribute Run celebrating the day Terry started his epic journey. That journey has changed so many lives and as a young runner myself when he was doing his Marathon of Hope I was for ever influenced by him and his cause. Congrats to Linda Wong for taking this on. Hi 5!
